Best Aion 2 Class for Beginners: All 8 Classes Ranked for New Players
Updated ·By the Aion2 Atlas team·How we source data
What is the best Aion 2 class for beginners?
- Easiest: Gladiator, then Spiritmaster
- Sturdiest: Templar (only tank)
- Hardest first pick: Assassin, then Sorcerer
- Skill points reset for free, so early mistakes are cheap
How we ranked the classes
A beginner class should forgive mistakes, keep you alive without a healer and level quickly on its own. So each class gets a beginner score out of 15: ease of play (6 minus its difficulty rating), survivability and solo strength, each rated 1–5 on our class comparison. Ties are broken by the solo leveling column of the tier list. The ratings are our editorial reading of MetaBot, game8 and Destructoid; they aren't DPS logs. The tier list methodology explains the sources.

Pick what you'll enjoy
This ranking is about how easy the first week feels, not how strong a class is at 45. If a harder class looks fun, play it: skill points reset for free and every class can clear current content. The class quiz weighs your own preferences.
1. Gladiator: the safest first character
Who it suits: players who want to hit things, see big numbers and not worry about dying. Most attacks hit up to four enemies and heal-on-hit passives keep you topped up. The only real weakness is that it's strictly melee.
- Use Rending Blow and Keen Strike as your main AoE; Keen Strike also restores MP.
- Save Leaping Slam and Rush Strike for when a target runs away, not for the opener.
- From level 14, open with Ruinous Blow: it grants Prepare for Battle, a big damage and crit buff.

2. Spiritmaster: the relaxed solo farmer
Who it suits: casual players who mostly play alone. Your Earth Spirit tanks and your Wind Spirit heals, so you rarely stop between pulls. It has no escape skill and is weaker in PvP.
- Only one spirit stays out at a time: Earth for tanking, Wind for healing, Water when MP runs low.
- Keep your curses and damage-over-time effects up; letting them drop is the most common mistake.
- Weave Cold Shock to refill MP, and put skill levels into Combustion first.
Next: Spiritmaster build
3. Templar: unkillable, always invited
Who it suits: players who want to lead dungeon pulls and protect a group. It's the only dedicated tank, so parties always need one. The trade-off is the lowest damage of the eight, so solo leveling is slow but almost deathless.
- Pummel is your main damage and enmity tool; Judgment follows every stun or knockdown.
- Open fights yourself to grab enmity, then turn the boss away from your party.
- Use Poach to pull adds that wander toward your healer.

4. Ranger: safe from range
Who it suits: players who like kiting and staying out of danger. Long range, slows and traps let you kill most quest mobs before they reach you. It gets fragile once something closes the gap.
- Stay near 20 meters; most Ranger deaths start with drifting too close.
- Don't waste Stamina on dodges you don't need.
- Save crowd control to set up Deadshot, not the moment it comes off cooldown.
Next: Ranger build
5. Chanter: the party's favorite
Who it suits: players who enjoy a busier hybrid role. It fights in melee, heals itself and buffs the whole party, and solos well. The rotation mixes damage and support, which takes longer to learn.
- Learn the stun-into-Dark Crush combo: Impactful Crush stuns, Dark Crush follows.
- Level Incandescent Blow and Spinning Strike (from 14) first.
- From 22, toggle your mantras before every pull; forgetting them is the classic mistake.

6. Cleric: the healer every group needs
Who it suits: players who want to keep a team alive. It's the only pure healer and the only class with a mid-fight resurrection, so groups always want one. Solo it's safe but the slowest killer of the eight.
- Weave Earth's Retribution to keep MP up.
- Keep Light of Regeneration running and answer big hits with Radiant Recovery.
- Stay mobile near the tank so AoE and crowd control don't interrupt your heals.
Next: Cleric build
7. Sorcerer: huge damage, very fragile
Who it suits: players who want top damage and are willing to learn positioning. It clears packs fast from range but has the lowest survivability, so mistakes cost more.
- Fire is for damage, ice is for control. Don't spend burst windows on ice.
- Pick your casting spot before the pull, not mid-charge.
- Put points into Firestorm, Bittercold Wind and Hellfire (from 14) first.

8. Assassin: the hardest first pick
Who it suits: experienced players who want to hunt in PvP. It has the best single-target burst, but the fewest AoE attacks and very low survivability, so leveling through mob packs is slow and punishing.
- Set up back attacks with Shadowstrike instead of hitting from the front.
- Keep some Stamina for an emergency dodge.
- Disengage when you're crowd-controlled or outnumbered.

Global vs KR
These ratings are for the global launch patch with 8 classes and a level cap of 45. Korea and Taiwan have a ninth class and later balance patches, so their beginner advice won't match exactly.
Frequently asked questions
What is the easiest class in Aion 2?+
Gladiator. It has the simplest rotation, strong self-healing and the best solo leveling score. MetaBot and game8 both rate it 5/5 for beginners.
Is Sorcerer good for beginners?+
It's playable but punishing. Sorcerer has huge AoE damage but the lowest survivability of any class, so new players die more often while learning. Try the Sorcerer leveling build if you pick it anyway.
Which Aion 2 class is best for solo play?+
Gladiator and Spiritmaster share the S tier for solo leveling on our tier list. Ranger, Sorcerer and Chanter are A tier.
Should a beginner play a tank or healer?+
Only if you enjoy group play. Templar and Cleric are always wanted in dungeons, but both are slower to level alone than damage classes.
Can I change class later in Aion 2?+
Not on the same character. You'd need to make a new character, so take the class quiz before you commit.
Does faction affect which class I can play?+
No. Elyos and Asmodians have the same 8 classes with the same stats.
