Aion 2 Templar Build

The only true tank. Every party wants you.

Templar is Aion 2's one dedicated tank, which means guaranteed party invites and a central role in every dungeon. Pick it if you like controlling fights, protecting others and being nearly impossible to kill, and you can live with slower solo clears.

What is the best Templar build in Aion 2?

A durable dungeon tank that still contributes damage. You open with Doom Shield and a full Punishment charge, keep Warding up for mitigation, and let Judgment and Debilitating Smash proc off your stuns. Stats lean fully defensive because staying alive is the job. For PvP, the Disruptor Tank (PvP) setup trades some damage for control and survival. Prioritize Defense, HP, Block in PvE.
  • PvE tier A: The only dedicated tank, so every group needs one. MetaBot ranks it S for group PvE even though damage-focused lists place it lower.
  • PvP tier A: A across every major source. Pulls and a Taunt that works on players make it a top disruptor, even with modest damage.

PvE build

Judgment Tank (PvE)

A durable dungeon tank that still contributes damage. You open with Doom Shield and a full Punishment charge, keep Warding up for mitigation, and let Judgment and Debilitating Smash proc off your stuns. Stats lean fully defensive because staying alive is the job.

Stat priority

  1. Defense›
  2. HP›
  3. Block

Rotation

  1. 1Plant Battlefield Banner and pop Noble Armor if the pull is dangerous
  2. 2Open with Doom Shield to grab the boss
  3. 3Fully charge Punishment for the Execution buff
  4. 4Turn the boss away from the party
  5. 5Keep Warding Strike rolling for mitigation
  6. 6Fill with Shield Smite and Pummel; fire Judgment whenever it lights up

Core skills & stigmas

  • Battlefield Banner

Turns your high Defense into extra Attack.

  • Doom Shield

Gap closer, self shield and Judgment enabler in one.

  • Taunt

Instant threat recovery when a DPS pulls aggro.

  • Noble Armor

Long Max HP buff plus an instant heal that cannot be dispelled.

  • Pummel

Highest-priority skill for levels and your main damage.

  • Warding Strike

Self heal plus damage tolerance on a short loop.

Gear

  • ◆Prioritize Defense and HP on armor pieces
  • ◆Take Block wherever you have a choice; it pairs with your passives
  • ◆Upgrade your weapon enough to hold threat over geared DPS
  • ◆Respec skill levels at 45 to match the Judgment build

Daevanion focus

  • ◆Skill levels: Pummel, then Judgment, then Punishment
  • ◆Annihilate and Debilitating Smash next for proc damage
  • ◆Damage Tolerance and HP nodes over pure offense

Tips

  • Back attacks matter in Aion 2, so facing the boss away is a real DPS gain for your group
  • Hold Poach for adds that wander toward your healer

PvP build

Disruptor Tank (PvP)

A community-inferred setup that leans on Templar's unique tools: pulls and a Taunt that work on players. You drag targets out of position, stun them for your team and soak the return fire. Treat it as a starting point, since PvP picks are not yet confirmed by tested builds.

Stat priority

  1. Defense›
  2. HP›
  3. Accuracy›
  4. Block

Rotation

  1. 1Shield the group with Nezekan's Shield before engaging
  2. 2Pull a priority target with Poach or several with Grapple
  3. 3Stun with Shield Smite, then Judgment while they are down
  4. 4Taunt a damage dealer who is chasing your backline
  5. 5Keep Warding Strike up to survive focus fire

Core skills & stigmas

  • Taunt

Forces players to attack you and debuffs their Accuracy and Attack.

  • Grapple

AoE pull to group enemies for your team's burst.

  • Poach

Single-target pull and root on a fleeing healer or caster.

  • Doom Shield

Engage tool with knockdown chance and a shield.

  • Shield Smite

Stun chance that sets up Judgment.

  • Nezekan's Shield

Shields your whole group before a clash.

Gear

  • ◆Same defensive base as PvE
  • ◆Add Accuracy so pulls and stuns land on players
  • ◆Weapon upgrades matter less than survivability here

Tips

  • Your value is in displacement, not kills; play for your team's burst windows
  • CC is chance-based against players, so do not count on every stun

How the Templar plays

Your job is to start every fight, grab the boss and turn it away from the party so damage dealers get back attacks. You mitigate with blocks, shields and a damage-tolerance buff from Warding Strike, while Nezekan's Shield protects everyone nearby. Damage comes from Pummel and from conditional follow-ups like Judgment that light up after stuns. Two pulls and a Taunt that works on players also make Templar a nasty disruptor in PvP, even if your personal damage stays modest.

Strengths

  • + Only dedicated tank, so always in demand for group content
  • + Party-wide shield from Nezekan's Shield
  • + Two pulls plus a Taunt that also forces players
  • + Tankiest passives in the game

Weaknesses

  • − Low personal damage
  • − Slow solo farming and Abyss clearing
  • − Fewer top Combat Power players than DPS classes

  3. 03

Forgetting Taunt exists when aggro slips

  4. 04

Chasing damage stats when the party needs you alive

Templar FAQ

Is Templar the only tank in Aion 2?+

Yes. Templar is the only dedicated tank in the global launch roster. Gladiator can off-tank, but groups still look for a Templar first.

Is Templar good for solo?+

It is safe but slow. You almost never die, but low damage means farming and Abyss clearing take longer than on DPS classes.

What are the best stigmas for Templar?+

For dungeons, Noble Armor, Battlefield Banner, Taunt and Doom Shield are the standard picks. Nezekan's Shield is a strong group option. In PvP, Taunt and Grapple stand out because they work on players.

Why do some tier lists rank Templar low?+

Damage-focused lists penalize its low output. Group-focused rankings, including armory-based ones, rate it at the top because no other class can fill its role.
