Aion 2 Empyrean Trace Guide: Feathers, Monolith Rewards and the 140 vs 560 Question

What Aion 2 Empyrean Traces are, what the Monolith gives you, why guides say 140 or 560, and the easiest way to track every feather you've already collected.

What are Empyrean Traces in Aion 2?

Empyrean Traces are glowing feather collectibles placed at fixed spots across the open world. You pick them up, then resonate them at your zone's Monolith. That raises your Monolith Resonance Level, which pays out permanent stats, skill points and item rewards. The collection is reported to be account-wide: gather the feathers once on your main and your alts share the progress. That makes them one of the best long-term investments in the game. The numbers in guides disagree. Some say 140 feathers, others say 560. The likeliest explanation is that both are right: each feather counts as 4 points, so 140 feathers make 560 points, and that unlocks the full Monolith reward list. Track your pickups on a community map, because the game won't tell you which spots you've already cleared.
  • Fixed-location feathers, turned in at the zone Monolith
  • Rewards: permanent stats, skill points, items
  • Reported account-wide (shared with alts)
  • 140 feathers × 4 points = 560 (likely)

What Empyrean Traces are

Empyrean Traces are the feather-shaped collectibles you'll spot tucked around Verteron, Altgard and other open-world zones. They never move. Once you know where one sits, it's there for everyone on that faction. Picking one up does nothing on its own. The payoff comes when you take your feathers to the Monolith in that zone and resonate them.

Resonating raises your Monolith Resonance Level. Each level along the track unlocks something: a permanent stat bump, a skill point or an item. Because the stats are permanent, traces are some of the most efficient power you can pick up while you're out questing anyway.

Do them early. Stats and skill points are worth more the sooner you have them, and you pass most trace spots while questing anyway. Grabbing them on the way is far cheaper than a dedicated cleanup trip at level 45.

Rewards at a glance

Reward typeWhy it matters
Permanent statsNever expire and stack with gear, so they help every class in every mode
Skill pointsExtra build flexibility without grinding levels
ItemsMixed rewards along the resonance track
Pet Insight progressA pet Insight step references “Empyrean Trace: Altgard 75 Pet Souls”, so traces tie into pet progression too

The count conflict: 140 or 560?

If you've read two guides you've probably seen two numbers. Here's what's going on:

  • Newer sources (Skycoach and several YouTube guides) say 140 feathers unlock the full Monolith reward list and that one feather counts as 4 points.
  • Older guides say 560 traces per home-faction map.
  • 140 × 4 = 560. The likeliest answer is that the old guides counted points, not physical feathers.

Not confirmed

NCSOFT hasn't published an official count for global, and some guides may have counted differently. Treat 140 feathers / 560 points as the working number, not gospel.

Account-wide progress (and why it changes your plan)

Several sources report that trace progress is shared across your account: collect once and the rewards sync to your alts. If that holds, the smart move is simple. Do the full sweep on the character you play most and don't redo it on every alt. This is reported, not officially stated, so check that the rewards actually show up on your second character before you skip its zones.

How to track which feathers you've collected

The game doesn't give you a clean checklist of which spots you've cleared, so you need an outside tracker. Here's a routine that works:

  1. Open our Empyrean Trace map and turn on only the trace layer.
  2. Work one subzone at a time instead of zig-zagging across the map.
  3. Tick off each spot as you grab it. Most maps save progress in your browser.
  4. Resonate at the Monolith whenever you pass it, so you can see your level go up and catch a missed batch early.
  5. Pair trace runs with hidden cube hunting. They're often in the same corners of the map.

Our interactive map pins every trace in Verteron and Altgard. Click a feather after you pick it up and the map remembers it — traces never move, so a ticked pin stays done.
