How do stigmas work in Aion 2?

Stigmas are a separate tab of 13 class skills that open at **level 22**, once you finish the third Ascension quest, **The One Who Hears the Voice**. Its reward includes 1 Stigma Shard, enough to learn your first stigma. On the global servers you get **4 stigma slots**: one at 22, then 27, 32 and 37. Stigmas don't use skill points. You level them with Stigma Shard points: levels 1 to 5 cost 1 each, then 2, 4 and 8 per level, so one stigma at level 20 costs 75 and a full set costs 300. Levelling to 45 gives about 29 points. The rest comes from the Abyss, Nightmare and Shugo Festival shops, achievements, the battle pass and dungeon rewards. Every stigma unlocks a specialization at levels 5, 10, 15 and 20, so take each one to 5 first. The best set for each class is in the table below.
  • Unlock: level 22 + third Ascension quest
  • Slots: 22, 27, 32, 37 (4 on global)
  • 75 shards for one stigma to level 20
  • Specializations at stigma levels 5, 10, 15, 20

What stigmas are

Every class has 13 stigma skills on their own tab of the Skills window, separate from your regular active and passive skills. They mix big cooldown nukes, crowd control, personal defensives and party buffs. A stigma only works once it is registered to one of your stigma slots. You can't swap stigmas in combat, and you can't change skill presets while a stigma is on cooldown. Each class also has one Assault stigma on a 120-second cooldown that hits up to four targets and raises your Defense by up to 20% depending on how many it hits.

Stigma slots aren't specialization slots

Regular active skills have their own specialization slots, which open at skill levels 8, 12 and 20 (level 16 only adds a fifth option). Those are slots on one skill. Your stigma loadout is the 4 registered stigma skills. Daevanion board nodes raise active and passive skills, not stigmas.

How stigmas unlock

  1. Reach level 22. Below that the stigma tab stays locked.
  2. Finish the third Ascension quest, The One Who Hears the Voice (same name for Elyos and Asmodians).
  3. Collect the Ascension reward: new wings and 1 Stigma Shard.
  4. Open Skills → Stigma, pick a skill and learn it at level 1 (costs 1 point).
  5. Register it to your stigma slot. More slots open as you level.

KR/TW guides list more slots

Global servers cap at 4 stigma slots. One source says the KR/TW version allows 6; that is KR/TW-only data and doesn't apply to NA/EU. Skip builds that list five or six stigmas.

What stigma levels cost

Stigma levelShards per levelShards for the bandRunning total
1–5155
6–1021015
11–1542035
16–2084075

The curve is the same for every stigma: 75 shards takes one to level 20, 300 takes all four. Beyond 20 you need Superior Stigma Shards: each stigma you take to level 20 gives you one, and the level table only adds more from level 46, above the current global cap, so that is late-game. With the 29 points from levelling plus the Ascension shard you can take four stigmas to level 5 and one of them to 10. Resetting a stigma refunds its shards, though the reset has its own cost.

Stigma specializations

Each stigma has four specializations that switch on automatically at stigma levels 5, 10, 15 and 20. You don't slot them by hand; reaching the level is enough. Some change a skill completely, turning a single-target hit into AoE or cutting its cooldown, so read the level 15 and 20 lines in the skill window before spending 40 shards on the last band.

Best stigmas for every class

PvE picks are listed in slot order (22, 27, 32, 37) and follow MetaBot's pick rates from about 150 tracked high Combat Power level 45 characters per class (October 3 sample): what top players run, not a tested ranking. Each class links to its skill priority and rotation page, which explains every pick.

Cleric + Chanter in one party

The Cleric's Light of Protection and the Chanter's Undefeated Mantra don't stack: only the higher-level one applies, and the Mantra wins a tie. Let the Chanter run the Mantra and move the Cleric's slot to Absolution or Benevolence.

Stigma levelling tips

  • Take every stigma you plan to keep to level 5 first: 5 shards each and the first specialization.
  • Then push your main damage or support stigma to 10 and 15 before the others; the 4- and 8-shard bands are where shards run out.
  • Buy the first Abyss Shop step first. Later steps cost up to 2.5 times as much per shard.
  • Swap stigmas between pulls, not mid-fight; the client blocks swaps in combat.
  • Plan regular skill levels separately in the Daevanion planner; board nodes don't touch stigmas.

Frequently asked questions

What level do stigmas unlock in Aion 2?+

Level 22, after the third Ascension quest, The One Who Hears the Voice. Its reward gives you 1 Stigma Shard to learn your first stigma.

How many stigma slots are there?+

Four on the global servers: one each at levels 22, 27, 32 and 37. Guides that list more slots are usually based on the KR/TW version.

How do I get Stigma Shards?+

From levelling (1 per level from 23, 2 per level from 40 to 45), the Abyss, Nightmare and Shugo Festival shops, achievements, the battle pass, Unstable Stigma Shards from dungeons and the Special Growth Voucher.

How many shards does a stigma need?+

75 to reach level 20: 1 per level for 1–5, 2 for 6–10, 4 for 11–15 and 8 for 16–20. A full set of four costs 300. Beyond 20 you need Superior Stigma Shards.

Can I change stigmas?+

Yes, outside combat. Resetting a stigma refunds its shards (the reset has its own cost), and you can't switch skill presets while a stigma is on cooldown.

Do Daevanion nodes level stigmas?+

No. Board skill nodes raise active and passive skills only. Stigmas are levelled with Stigma Shards.
