How do you get Special Soul Crystals in Aion 2?

The Special Soul Crystal is the light blue crystal for the Special pet family's Genus Insight board. Field monsters don't drop it, so most players feed the Special board with Soul Crystal (Bound), the rainbow wildcard from pet collection milestones, which works for any family.

Aion 2 has four main pet families, each with its own crystal color, plus a fifth Special family for rare, event and enemy-territory pets. Its crystal is light blue. Guides agree that Special crystals don't drop from field monsters the way red, green, blue and yellow ones do, so you can't farm the Special board the normal way. The practical answer is wildcards: Soul Crystal (Bound) is rainbow, works on any board, and comes 100 at a time from pet collection milestones (about 1,700 in total). Level 45 growth dungeons are also reported to drop wildcards. Analysis costs the same as other boards, 4 crystals and 1,000 Kinah. We haven't found a confirmed shop or quest that sells light blue crystals directly, so we don't list one. Save wildcards for Special and farm the other colors from monsters.

How to feed the Special board, step by step

  1. Collect pets of any family to hit collection milestones; see collection milestones.
  2. Bank the 100 wildcard crystals each milestone pays and don't spend them on boards you can farm.
  3. Farm red, green, blue and yellow crystals from monsters for the four main boards instead.
  4. Run the level 45 growth dungeons for extra wildcards once you're capped.
  5. Spend wildcards on Special Genus Insight analysis when the board's slots are open.

Several sites call the Special crystal "rare" without naming a source. If you see a light blue crystal for sale in an in-game shop, the tooltip in your client is the source of truth, and tell us so we can add it.
